A traditional 19th century Maltese Xprunara

This model represents the Maltese xprunara named Madonna del Monte Carmelo which was built in one of the commercial shipyards in the French Creek in the 19th century.  The model is shown partly completed with the spur on the bows and the frames can be seen made up in three parts namely the horizontal part known as majjiera and the vertical ones on each side known as the stamnari.

Noticeable is the pink stern that is the extension of the poop to accommodate a canopy to provide shelter for the passengers who can afford to pay extra money to use the facility.  The xprunara will have three masts with lateen sails as well as a jib sail.
