An early 20th century Gozo Boat
The 'crew' of Focal Maritime Services Co. Ltd. approached me beginning of November 2008 and expressed their wish to commission a small scale model traditional Maltese boat. I immediately suggested the elegant and sturdy Lateen Boat. They welcomed the idea and I started drawing out plans and giving my clients the dimensions of this beautiful model. For me this was the second Gozo Boat model and I was really excited with the prospect of creating another beauty.
This model was approximately 25cm in length including bowsprit and on a scale of 1:72. This a double-ended boat, with a noticeable sheer at the bows and possesses some of the brightest Mediterranean colours! It is anchored to a sea diorama with wrapped up sails. This boat was proudly presented to Mr. Godwin Xerri of Focal Maritime Services Co. Ltd by his own 'crew' at the same Company.
